Who Is This Course For?
The Asbestos Awareness Training course is suitable for anyone who is liable to disturb asbestos during their normal work. The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 stipulates that employers must provide appropriate training for all staff likely to be exposed to asbestos. The regulations also apply if you are self-employed.
The aim of this course is to give delegates an understanding of the dangers from asbestos and to how to avoid exposing themselves and others to those dangers, thereby creating a safer work place.
Those who are most at risk to exposure to asbestos and therefore those who would require Asbestos Awareness training, typically applies to the following:
- Architects
- Building Surveyors
- Construction & Demolition Workers
- Electricians, Plumbers & Gas Fitters
- Fire & Burglar Alarm Installers
- General Maintenance Staff
- Heating & Ventilation Engineers
- Joiners, Carpenters & Plasterers
- Painters & Decorators & Roofers
- Telecommunication Engineers
Any organisation that allows builders or maintenance personnel onto their premises must ensure that they have evidence of suitable asbestos awareness training.
Why Is Asbestos Awareness Training So Important?
Current research shows that every week approximately 20 tradesmen die from an asbestos related disease and there are around 2,000 asbestos related deaths each year in the UK alone.
It is an absolute legal requirement under Regulation 10 of The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, that all who may come into contact with asbestos in their day to day work are provided with Category ‘A’ Asbestos Awareness training.
